Time Keeper

Trapped between two worlds she wanders,
She is a ghost of the past
From a dark time long ago.
She is never to rest,
To feel deaths cool embrace
As it leads her into the netherworld...
And so she wanders keeping time,
Guarding and guiding the living.
This is her duty,
Her eternal penance.

My beautiful mum wrote that poem for me, I love it so much! It fits perfectly with my outfit this week!

This is my halloween outfit for this week, although I don't look particularly freaky, I absolutely love wearing it, because I feel like I just walked out of old Victorian times. Not to mention it is super comfortable and warm, the material of the skirt is really thick!

These photos were taken by my gorgeous friend Tanaya, we had such a fun time too!

The skirt, denim vest, and belt were all thrifted! I remember finding these in the Salvo's store about three years ago, and I just recently dug them out from the depths of the shed the other day!

My shirt is a simple 'flumpy' shirt (hoorah for made up words!) and I love the way it hangs and drapes perfectly on me. Probably because its a bit to big for me...but still ;)

I bought this 'antique pocket watch' from ebay! You can get them really cheap, and they look great!

I hope you like my Steampunk look today, I certainly enjoyed pretending to be a 'ghost from the past' as I walked around the neighbourhood!

Be excellent to each other! ;)

Wild Children

Hello!

I had taken some photographs of Tarz a little while ago, and I finally managed to find them again. We teased her hair and stuffed it with feathers!

She kind of reminds me of a wild child, looking a little lost and curious in her surroundings.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the result we managed to get...

Talking about 'Wild Children', have you heard of the case study of Genie?

Genie was a little girl that spent the first thirteen years of her life confined to a small room, often tied to a potty chair. Her mother, father and brother rarely spoke to her, although her father would growl and bark at her, and would often beat her if she made any noise.
When she was found, she was unable to walk properly, or talk or interact in social situations.
The case of Genie was really fascinating, because it allowed psychologists to study how language actually develops, wether it be in the nature of humans to learn language, or relying on the environment and the way they are nurtured.

At first Genie was making significant progress while in the care of the research team, but because of lack of funding, Genie had to pass through many foster homes, and suffered from abuse and neglect, so all her progress had receded.

Its really sad Genie's story didn't end happily, but imagine what she would have been like if her case study continued to be funded? I wonder how much progress she eventually would have made had she not been passed around from foster home to foster home?!

You can watch the full documentary here! Its super duper interesting!

Have a fantabulous day!

Your Face Offends Me

No, I'm just joking, your face is beautiful! But this shirt is pretty cool!

At first I wasn't too sure about this shirt, it was long, it didn't tuck (I have a thing with shirts that I can tuck into things) and it had a slogan on it (I don't usually like shirts with words) but this shirt grew on me, especially after I just bought it on a whim from the giant pile of clearance clothes in a Jay Jays store. What made it better was that it only cost me $5! Clearance piles are fabulous.

I decided to put this shirt with my plaid denim skinny jeans, because I felt the green on the shirt went well with the greeny/blue colours of the jeans.

Added army boots and a vest I made from an old jacket, put on a beanie and arm warmers to keep a little warmer, and I realised I had a whole grunge/punk look going on!
I usually am not one for grunge, but after wearing this outfit about for a day, I felt like a different person who was 'oh so complicated' and probably listened to heavy metal (I don't listen to heavy metal, but I felt like I should've!)
I find it funny how our attitudes and confidence and thoughts can change depending on what we wear and how we portray it!

And I absolutely love wearing these boots. They actually have zips at the sides so I don't have to undo them and then do them back up again...and they look really cool too :)

ALSO...
I dyed my hair red! Hoorah!

At first it started off with hot pink/red strips...which was not what I particularly wanted...and then the lovely hairdresser just dyed the rest of my hair red, and now I feel fabulous. I like to classify myself as an 'artificial red head'. Yey!
